She retired form the Cotton Mill (Dan river Mill). she was an expert seamstress - she made everybodies clothes and even Men's suits. After retirement she took advanatage of free classes where she learned to art and crafts projects. She did "most everything". Basket weaving, afghans,
She had a stroke making Sweet Potato pies. When Helen got there, Verdie asked Helen to clean her kitchen.
After a second stroke, she was in the hospital and went into a coma while in a CAT (CT) scan machine that encompasses the whole body and never recovered.
