George Richard King was the first Police Chief in Escanaba Michigan. From 1879 to 1890.
He also owned a Saloon.
He was a short man at 5'4" tall.
He was a talented and innovative man.
According to the "The Daily Press" March 21 1996 - Article titled: "The early days of Radio...": It read: "..Vic Bloomstrom of Escanaba jewelry Bloomstrom and Peterson, was a local poineer. So was George King, whose talents went into many fields..."
His picture is in the Escanaba Lighthouse Museum.
He was in the Civil War (the war of the rebellion)

Discharged for disability by order of General Heintzelman

George married Lucy TAYLOR, daughter of James A TAYLOR and Sarrah A WILLIAMS, on 12 Jul 1867 in Fox Island, Manitou. (Lucy TAYLOR was born in Dec 1845 in Mackinaw Island.)
